Hi Kim,

Thank you for your kind words. Large indoor cages and aviaries are
something I'm passionate about. I think these are some of the most
enriching things we can do for our birds If you don't mind, I'd like
to keep discussion about the aviary on the list so that other
listmembers considering an aviary might benefit from some of the
things we talk about. Then, when you are actually constructing the
enclosure you'll have my contact phone number and if you have any
questions you won't have to wait on email. All I ask is that after
it's built you send me some pictures of the birds enjoying their
aviary so I can put it on the website and maybe it will inspire others
to build an aviary for their birds.

Ok, so you just want something safe that is 12x16x8 and can be
partially roofed for shade, any other specific requirements we need to
consider?

I would strongly suggest considering a safety enclosure. Also,
interior have been a really big hit here at my house, my U2
has them in his aviary and his indoor cage. I'm not a great
photographer and we haven't finished furnishing the aviaries, but here
are some pics we snapped the other day and you can see how we're using
these shelves in the aviary:
