The Center for Applied Linguistics seeks two candidates to fill the positions of Mathematics Testing Specialist and Science Testing Specialist. The specialists will work as part of a project team comprised of science and math specialists, educators, linguists, web and graphic designers, and measurement specialists doing research and test development in the area of math and science testing for grade 4-12 English language learners. The project is focused on creating a computer delivered test that will be accessible to ELLs with a grade level understanding of math and science knowledge and practices, but with limited abilities to demonstrate their understanding on conventional math and science tests developed for native English speaking students. The positions require a B.A. or M.A. in some science domain or mathematics, or Elementary or Secondary Education with a concentration in science or mathematics. The ideal candidates will also have 2 or more years of elementary education teaching experience, largely focused on mathematics or science, preferably with English language learners; excellent computer skills, including the ability to work with both text and multimedia objects; and excellent writing and presentation skills in English. A working knowledge of a foreign language is desirable. Interested applicants should send a resume and cover letter to:
